History
From its earliest origins, donkey milk was considered a rare and precious commodity. The history of cosmetics and donkey milk stretch back many millenia.
The Egyptian queens Nefertiti and Cleopatra, anxious to preserve the radiance and youthfulness of their skin, luxuriated in donkey milk baths.
In the Middle Ages, orphans were put to suckle directly at the udders of female donkeys. Our ancestors understood the unique composition of donkey milk.

The Production
Donkey milk is produced in the ‘Asinerie’ (donkey farm), one donkey are able to produce between 3 and 6 litres. The production process usually lasts 4 months (mid-June to mid-October).
Working only with high-quality ingredients, La Maison du Savon de Marseille collaborates with a donkey farm located in the Gers (southwest France) in Moncorneil Grazan.
Fresh milk is frozen in 5-liter bottles at -18 ° C and sent to our factory to produce our soaps and range of cosmetics. 4% fresh milk is used in our donkey milk soap, which creates maximum efficiency in usage.
